I caution exposing children under 17 to this type of content until they can handle the subconscious implications of it. These are very dark themes and images that are mixed into this anime, a thematic choice considering the setting is "Death City". Witch-Craft: In the world of satanism and witch-craft, this anime portrays very classic symbolism and imagery of these categories more then any other anime I've seen.Upside down crosses, all-seeing eye, black cats, witch covens, communication mirrors, etc.

Lastly I think the positivity in the show was underrated, the characters aren’t bad role models, they feel fairly human (like Maka) and have been shown to improve and help each other out. The other would be there is a character consistently seen with a cigarette, and there’s some scenes at a bar type place with drinks. The only other negative aspects I can think of currently would be there is a fair amount of violence, personally I do not think it would be too much for someone younger. As far as I have seen though I think the first episode was the worst for that so before you allow your kid to watch I would get a feel for the show. I will say I’m only about a fourth if the way through, but the opening and first episode were a bit much in terms of the “witch” Blair to be for younger children. Perhaps it’s just me but I feel as though the levels of nudity at times is a bit much, I would recommend it to my much younger sister if it wasn’t for that. I personally enjoy it and would like to supplement this review with a few of my thoughts on the various “unpleasant” aspects of it.
